As has been widely covered in the media, Royal Mail are putting up their prices again on April 30th. We are in the process of reviewing the impact on our delivery charges and looking at alternative options.
Most significantly though, Royal Mail are making changes to the pricing structures. The biggest impact for us is the removal of low weight price bands in ’packet’ sized items, currently broken out at 100g, 200g, 500g and 750g.
This means that any items too large for the ‘Large Letter’ slot will be charged at the ’750g or less’ rate of £2.70. This, for example, adds 75 pence to the cost of sending a single pair of Larsen Trap Springs.
To offset this we’re working on creating more off the shelf ’bundles’ of products that maximise the product delivered for the postage charged. If there are any bundles you’d particularly find useful let us know.

It was really great fun to meet so many of our customers at the BASC Gamekeepers fair over the weekend. One of the drawback about an internet based business is that so much is done remotely, so it was really useful and enjoyable to be talk with you all face to face.
We hope that you found the stand interesting and we’d love to hear your thoughts and ideas.
What else would you like to see at the next one ?

For those of you who have missed them, we’ve had a few interesting special items during the last few weeks. There was a small consignment of very fine Rabbit Bolt traps which sold out almost completely in the first day ! and the last 2 within a week. The details are still available to read in the ‘One Off Specials’ section, if you wanted to have a look.
We’ve been very busy in the ‘vintage trap’ arena, looking at some books to expand our range on those as well as selling off a few of our spare Research and Development pieces. We’ve got a couple of interesting project in the development phase which we hope will be up and running by Christmas.
There are a few new catalogue products in the pipeline so watch out for those over the next couple of months too.
On a personal note I am also pleased to be able to tell you that I’ve been knuckling down to the new book, working title ‘More Traps Making, Step by Step’. Not a very imaginative title I know, but essentially that’s what it is. There’s a free signed copy of the book up for grabs if anyone can suggest a better title and I decide to use it.
Cheers, John

It’s been hectic here since Christmas but I think we’re on top of it all again.
Developing the new website has been another important task and we’re pretty pleased with the results. We wanted to expand the scope of the site a bit and move on from the original focus on Trap Making SBS. We hope to be able to keep adding interesting content now so let us know what you think and anything else you’d like to see on the site.
The start of the vermin control season has meant a lot of enquiries and a few awkward shaped parcels to send out. I think there are a lot of people out there making their own cages this year.
There have been a few special projects too, including a contract for large pigeon traps and an order from the NGO for a half size scale model of a Larsen Trap.

Fourteenacre are having the website revamped. Is there anything anyone would like to see on the site which isn’t there at the moment ? Might add a gallery of interesting and vintage traps along side the current “Reader’s Gallery”. Any other wish list items.
