I came across this video late last year and have found it’s improved my catch rate significantly.  It was filmed and self-produced by Wayne Walton, a full time mole trapper who catches thousands of moles every year.  The filming and production is unquestionably amateur but I find that reassuring and the value is in the content. What you get is an honest and instructive insight into the craft and techniques of trapping moles – told by a professional in the field, in his own words.   The film covers an overview of trap types, trap tuning, mole behaviour (anatomy, tunnels, feeding nesting), trap placement in the field and trap setting.   Shows Fenn, Duffus and Talpex type traps in operation.

It is perfect for anyone trying to trap moles for the first time but will also provide the sort of hints and tips that any experienced mole trapper will benefit from.

A variant of the ‘claw type’ mole trap, these powerful traps are able to cut through the walls of mole tunnels when set correctly.  They also use a different trigger mechanism from the traditional scissor and half-barrel  traps, which can give you an advantage with hard to catch moles.

The extended handles make the strong springs easier to set.

NoMol mole traps are based on a traditional European design originally made from sprung copper rod.  Now made of modern materials, they have been given a 21st Century refresh and are a formidable trap in the mole trapper toolkit. These traps are set completely below ground, making them less likely to attract unwanted attention and reducing the risk of lawnmower accidents !

The traps come complete with support sticks and setting instructions.  Used singly for ‘spur’ runs or as a pair so that a run can be trapped in both directions.

These traps are usually supplied in boxes of 4, but we also break them out into pairs for people who only want 2.
