Magnet end cover for MINKPOLICE MPX

Description

These covers were developed by the Menter Mon project in Gwynedd Wales,in partnership with local designer Steve Thomas.
The project found that on Mink Rafts the magnet would sometimes be knocked off by floating debris and record a false positive. Together they developed this lightweight, easy to fit cover which provides protection for the magnet area.

Prototypes of the covers were trialled for a season across 20 or 30 units, holding up well and proving effective.

They are 3D printed from PETG which has a good balance of UV resistance and mechanical durability. All the hardware is stainless steel.

To fit, first mount the MPX bracket to the trap using the clamping bar, then bolt the cover on to the bracket. It is much faster with a 2.5mm hex driver (like a screwdriver) and a nut wrench or pliers than using Allen keys. Just cinch the nuts up, don’t use excessive force on the plastic. The locking nyloc nuts will stop themselves from working loose.
