Description

More Trap Making is the second book on Trap Making to be written by John Bryan.  The author’s first book, Trap Making Step by Step, was published in 2008  and has become popular with amateurs, as well as Pest Control and Gamekeeping professionals and has sold all around the world.

This is a completely new book with material which compliments but does not duplicate book 1.

More Trap Making broadens the scope to include the most popular of the professional UK spring traps.  The first section is devoted to Approved Spring Traps, taking the reader through how to use them safely, effectively and legally.    It provides guidance on correct setting, preparation, care and accessories so that readers may use these traps safely and with greater effectiveness. There are details of how to make lots of accessories and housings which make the most of the features of the different styles of trap.

The second part of the book is filled with more plans in the characteristic ‘step by step’ style, including:

  • Designs for side entry a Larsen Traps with a range of different doors and triggers.  Side entry traps are often thought to be more effective on carrion crows and the grey crow in Ireland.  The plans in this book are mostly mostly use mesh for the Larsens as a contrast to the wooden plans in book 1.
  • A simple but very effective mouse trap which helped rid a Shetland school of mice in the head mistress’s office.  (Watch the prototype in use here).
  • A mesh bender based on a design that one produced some of the most popular cages in the UK.
  • A crayfish trap which meets the guidelines laid down by the Environment Agency.

TRAPS AND MORE TRAP MAKING (STEP BY step) is the second trapping book from John Bryan. His first, Trap making step by step, has sold well since published in 2008 and this second one looks set to do the same. John deals with some of the more common trap types first, offering advice on their setting and tips on improving catch rates, before he moves onto some of the lesser known trap types and variations on standard spring designs, catches and doors.
As well as the easy to follow instruc¬tions, plans and tool lists of the first book, Traps and more trap making has close-up photographs of the traps (which are often easier to follow than diagrams and sketches), suggestions on trap improvements (some of which have been sent in by readers of the first book) and a brief outline of our legal requirements in relation to the setting of traps and the despatching of quarry.
It’s a well thought out book and although those of us with some trapping experience will already know some of what’s been written, I guarantee that no-one who reads it will know it all

This book is the bible as far as I am concerned, full of useful and simple solutions and plans.
Especially if your a bodygrip trap convert like me.
The first book was brilliant, but this book for me, being a man low on practical skills and patience is so clear and easy to follow.
If your in the game keepering or pest control business, or just a novice this should be on your shelf!

John Bryans second book “More Trap Making” is the long waited sequel to the now famous “Trap making step by step” book that was a huge success with both professional and hobbyist trappers alike when it was published in 2008. More Trap Making is a book no self-respecting trapper should be without, it takes the reader step by step through well thought out plans and easy to follow instructions that results in quality and professional looking traps ready for action. In addition to trap plans the books’ topics also include mesh bending techniques and spring trap setting and usage that takes the readers skills sets to the next level. This is an excellent book that will provide hours of enjoyment that has the “right” of passage to the book shelf next to your copy of “Trap making step by step”.
