Description
The BMI 116 Magnum body grip traps are the bigger brother of the 110; approved for use on grey squirrels, weasels, rats and mice, plus rabbit and mink. As with all Spring Traps these must be used in a tunnel in order to prevent harm to any non-target animals, however for these traps the tunnel usually supports the trap as well.
All pest control products carry a level or general or specific risk – Spring Traps in particular. For more details CLICK HERE.
Advice on using these traps effectively is provided in our book, Traps & More Trap Making.
From 1st April 2020 these trap are no longer approved for stoat in the UK. Where stoats are known to be present, or likely to be caught, an AIHTS compliant trap should be used. As the law is currently unclear about accidental stoat catches, anyone setting a trap must do their own risk assessment.
With the implementation of the Wildlife Management & Muirburn (Scotland) Act 2024, attending an approved training course and gaining accreditation will soon be required for anyone intending to use these specific traps in Scotland. Exact date TBC.

I cannot count how many rabbits I have had out with these. They are easily the most under rated trap in the UK. Light weight and portable too.
One thing, get some ground anchors for any ground based traps, otherwise foxes and badgers will have them off along with your catch.
