Squirrel Cage Trap

We have always recommended that a well set, legal, lethal spring trap is the most effective, efficient and humane way to control squirrels.  However in some circumstances this is just not possible.  In areas where Red Squirrels may be present or where Pine Martens are spreading a cage trap is the only viable option.

We have teamed up with an established UK manufacturer to supply cage traps and bridge this gap in our product set.  Albi-Traps have been supplying squirrel traps to wildlife and woodland organisations for many years and are an established part of the red squirrel conservation effort.

A good size with the treadle placed well to the rear these traps encourage the squirrel well inside before triggering.  They are easy to set and have a spring loaded locking bar to keep the door closed once the trap is sprung.  An important feature that the door remains closed even if the trap is rolled.

Cage traps carry an even greater responsibility for the user because no animal must be caught and left to die in a cage trap – whether the intended target or an accidental catch.  This is a far worse death than any spring trap.  What is more the user must be prepared to deal with the animals caught and dispatch any target species in an efficient and humane manner, with minimum distress the the captive.
